Rehabilitation and Pain Management
The goal of physical medicine and rehabilitation, commonly referred to as physiatry, is to improve and restore functional ability and quality of life for those who have physical impairments or disabilities. Injuries to the spinal cord, brain injuries, strokes, as well as discomfort or impairment brought on by strained muscles, torn ligaments, or damaged nerves, can all fall under this category. Relief of pain in various dimensions, from acute and simple to chronic and difficult, is dealt with in the area of medicine and health care known as pain management. In the normal course of their work, most doctors and other healthcare providers offer some form of pain management.
